Heyy guys…hmm the topic for this week’s blog is :
A teamwork in the hotel industry is crucial. Imagine if there are no workers that are helping in the hotel industry, I am sure that it will cause a big mess. So my question is how to maintain a good relationship between the managers and the staffs? How could the staffs be motivated to work?

Maintaining a good relation between managers and subordinates are not easy. The leadership skills will take part in this situation. In my point a view, the leaders need to be strict but at the same time they need to have charisma and trust from their subordinates. This is not the only reason to maintain a good relation, to understand the goal of the company will also help a good relation between the leaders and subordinates.
ReplyDeleteI think salary, passion to the job, and individual interest will motivate the staffs to keep challenge themselves to fulfill their needs.
I will have to agree with kevin that maintaing a good relationship with the manager and the subordinates are not easy. Why? Because of the gap between the classes. If you maintain a good relationship with the manager, some subordinates might think that you are trying to get the manager's heart and not playing fair. Working in a hotel insdustry needs teamwork. However within that teamwork, there is always competitive staffs. Yet, they'll need each other's help. No man can stand alone in an island.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it is not an easy thing to work on, yet there will always be a solution to every problems. Being a staff, you can work as a good team members and perform a good performances to please the manager. Therefore, there is no playing behind the scene between staffs and manager to get attention. Staffs can be motivated by following or fulfilling ONE GOAL in working in a hotel which is to have an outstanding hotel services for their guest and NOT to be an outstanding staff while their guests are not pleased. To this aim, the staffs will be less competitve and egocentric, yet building a good team to their hotel. If this happens, the relationship between all staffs and the manager wil eventually grow by itself since the manager will be please with his staffs and their cooperation.

for me, it is not easy to maintain relationship with other people.. especially with new people.. i think, the manager should be fair to the employee.. even there is competition in the working place, but the manager should be fair by judging the wrong and the right.. for me, something that motivate the workers are salary and position.. because every one is want the highest position and high salary..
ReplyDeleteIn every industries, jobs or even organizations, it is true that human can not work alone. He or she need others help and partners to cope up together. Therefore, it is very important to keep and maintain a good relation with others. For the manager, there are several ways to maintain a good relations with their worker. The most important thing is to create a good communications with no boundary between the relations. The manager also need to have a low personalities, awareness to the employee and understanding the employee, so that it will encourage the employee to talk honestly. Therefore, manager can have clearer view through employee’s confession about actual problems in the organizations. There are few tips and guidelines that i figure out for motivating the employee. For employee, it is important to review the work that have been done and given a report for their performance whether it is satisfying or not. So that the employee might understand they quality and standard performance. To increase working passion, the manager could set up some regulations like bonus fee, commission, rewards, points and also award for the hard works.

The relationship between the manager and employee is very crucial in maintaining high operational performance to satisfy the costumer. A good relationship must be build from both sides; a manager must be strict & charismatic at the same time to give positive influence to the employees. On the other hand, employees must also strive give their best performance to achieve the organization's goals and they must respect all the managerial decision made by their superiors. In hospitality industry, we must work together; manager and employees must support each other to achieve maximum satisfaction. The reward and appreciation to the best employee who can perform better than the other employees can motivate the employees & stimulate a healthier working relationship between managers and employees.

Well, managers can create games in the workplace which can bring the relationships closer such as the tip games where employees compete to have the highest tip given by the customer or guest and the one who wins gets a bonus.
Managers should also be open minded to employee's opinion which I think is the most important thing so that the employees will feel good about themselves whenever the managers hear about their opinions.
to maintain a good relationship between the staff and the manager, there should be a gift or something to show their appreciation like for example a pin or medal for employee of the month and all. the manager should also be strict but relaxed in a way so that they still get to enjoy their work area. to keep the staffs motivated is like how i said, have a gift for the employee of the month and also have a family gathering or a big group dinner once in a while to keep the burden from work light.
ReplyDeletemaintaining a good relationship isn't an easy thing to do. first of all, the manager should not underestimate the staff. every people have their own different talent and skill thus the manager should not disgrace it but need to appreciate and use it well. it is important to have briefing before and after work so that everyone can share and help one another.
ReplyDeletethe most powerful motivation is maybe by giving a bonus/extra pay for those who perform well. and moreover, through delegation, the staffs will be motivated well since they will realize that they have an important role in determining the success of the hotel.
To maintain a good relationship between the managers and the staff can be start by arrange a gathering outside the work place between both the managers and the staff. by those gathering they will get to know each other more further. the gathering can be held every few months.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the individual relationship between both of them, beside strict, the manager's must become a good listener to their staff. listen to what they needs so they can be happy and get the job done, and so the customers will also be happy. and for the staff they must be follow the orders, rules and the advice from the managers so they will become a good workers.
the staff will be motivated to go to work if they have a good relationship between both the managers and also other staff ( so they will work comfortably). and not to forget high salary, bonus and 'employee of the month' can be also motivated them as well.
